Homebox with HPS Bulbs
Setup of a Homebox 1.8 with ventilation and illumination (at the moment only available in german but the images are self-explanatory):
Transcription in english:
The video features setup and furnishing of a Homebox 1.8. This Homebox with the dimensions 100 x 100 x 180 cm comes with four tension belts and crossbeams for easy fixation of illumination and ventilation components.
The ventilation system consists of an active carbon filter, a fan and air tubes. The illumination kit may be for instance a HPS-lamp with 400 W and ballast or a CFL-lamp with 250 W.
It is recommandable to mount the Homebox with four hands. It is absolutely possible to mount it on one's own but can be tricky, especially with the bigger Homeboxes like the XL or XXL.
Ventilation System
Two meters of air tube are sufficient for a standard setup. You can cut it in two pieces, one shorter for the connection of filter and fan and one a bit longer which conducts the air out of the Homebox. It is recommended to use a tape measure to avoid lapses.
In this example the fan is mounted with an Easy Roll. Alternatively you can use a chain or tough thread. The filter is fastened with tension belts.
This Homebox provides two exits to lead out the air tube, we use the one at the top.
Illumination System
We are using a textured aluminium reflector. The favored way is to fasten it with easy rolls allowing quick and easy adjustation of heigth. Avoid leaving finger prints or other stains on the HPS-bulb since they can damage the lamp.
The ballast has to be outside of the Homebox. Please take care to install it in a dry and fireproof place. Just putting it on the carpet as seen in the video-example is dangerous!
If you use a CFL-lamp you don't need a ballast.
Furthermore
It is recommended to use a timer to control power consumption and night-and-day-phases. A climate control unit helps adjusting the speed of the fan.
